A woman driving on the R59 from Alberton towards Meyerton became the victim of an armed robbery in the early hours of January 31.
She hit an object in the road, which caused a flat tyre, at about 00:34. As she stopped to seek help, a man pointing a firearm confronted her. He forced her to a nearby bridge and robbed her of an undisclosed amount of cash.
A vigilant community member saw the incident and immediately alerted the Kliprivier SAPS, whose officers swiftly tracked down and arrested four men and recovered firearms and stolen property belonging to the victim.
The suspects will face robbery charges.
Kliprivier SAPS station commander Lieutenant Colonel Leketi Jan Mofokeng commended the officers for their rapid and effective response, ensuring the community’s safety and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
The authorities urge residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to local law enforcement.
