Arrest of 5 suspects shed light on five unresolved murder cases

Five suspects were arrested in Alberton and two of the suspects are linked to five murder separate murder cases.

A recent operation by CPS Security has led to the recovery of an unlicenced firearm and the arrest of five suspects in connection with a series of serious crimes.

The suspects, apprehended on the afternoon of October 9, have since been handed over to the SAPS provincial head office for investigation.

The situation unfolded when CPS Security’s Mobile LPR unit flagged a stolen motor vehicle in the Alberton area.

In a coordinated effort, CPS Tactical Units quickly responded and tracked the vehicle as it entered Verwoerdpark.

With the assistance of Alberton SAPS and EMPD CLU, they successfully pulled over the vehicle.

During the operation, authorities seized not only the stolen vehicle but also an unlicenced firearm and narcotics.

In a startling development, CPS Security has confirmed that two of the five suspects were linked to five separate murder cases, raising the stakes of the ongoing investigation.

This significant arrest underscores the ongoing efforts to enhance community safety and combat illegal firearm possession.

Tyrone van der Merwe, sales director of CPS Security, praised his team.

“Thanks to their quick actions, we achieved a positive arrest and taken another gun off the streets,” Van der Merwe said.

He also acknowledged the collaborative effort from local law enforcement agencies that contributed to the operation’s success.

Van der Merwe expressed gratitude to everyone involved, noting their teamwork has the potential to solve additional cases and improve community safety.

All five suspects remain detained and are facing several charges as investigations continue.
