43 arrested in Alberton during Operation Shanela

Ekurhuleni District commissioner, Major General Anna Sithole, thanked all law enforcers that played at the Alberton Operation Shanela.

Alberton SAPS together with various law enforcement agencies took to the streets of Alberton in a joint operation which resulted in several successes.

Over 1000 individuals were arrested in the two-day operation throughout the Gauteng province, with a total of 43 wanted suspects arrested in Alberton.

One of the suspects arrested in Alberton was wanted for a murder in Jabulani.

Three individuals were taken into custody during the operation after it was discovered that they were illegally in possession of precious stones and a docket was opened with Alberton SAPS.

The commissioner of the Ekurhuleni District, Major General Anna Sithole, praised the work of the SAPS and other law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime.

“It must be noted that every time we gather for Operation Shanela, we become confident that positive outcomes will result. We will continue holding this operation to ensure that we deal with crime decisively,” Sithole said.

Sithole thanked everyone who played a role in ensuring that culprits were put behind bars.
