Alberton couple in High Court for pre-sentence report on daughter’s murder

The parents of a two-year-old girl murdered in Alberton North will reappear in Johannesburg High Court on September 16.

The Alberton North couple, charged with killing their two-year-old daughter, appeared before the Johannesburg High Court for a pre-sentence report on August 1.

The Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court found the married couple guilty on five counts of charges, including murder, rape, two acts of child abuse, and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The matter was transferred to Johannesburg High Court because of the recess period.

The forensic analysis revealed that the child died from wounds reportedly sustained 12 days before her death on May 15, 2021.

The matter was postponed to September 16 because the court has not seen the pre-sentence report. Both offenders were taken into custody.
