CPF has a mission to curb crime in Alberton

The Community Policing Forums (CPF) calls the Alberton community to join the CPF Sector WhatsApp groups and utilize them to communicate crime-related queries and concerns.

A vigilant resident observed a suspect exhibiting suspicious behaviour in front of the property at 94 Paul Kruger on June 24.

The suspect subsequently entered the premises. This critical information was promptly shared on CPF platforms, leading to the immediate notification of a private security company.

Due to swift and decisive action, the officers apprehended the intruder, and the security company secured the scene. Shortly after that, the SAPS arrived and took the suspect into custody.

“This incident underscores the indispensable role the CPF plays in fortifying our communities. By bridging the gap between residents and law enforcement, CPFs foster a united front against criminal activity. This collaborative approach serves as a deterrent to crime and cultivates a sense of safety and belonging among the community members.

“We extend our gratitude to our vigilant community for their prompt response. This successful apprehension exemplifies CPF patrollers’ profound impact on enhancing community safety,” said Mike Pieterse, chairperson of South Crest CPF.

The CPF urges residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity, as it will help deter crime and secure communities.

Pieterse said: “Our community’s strength lies in its members, and we are actively seeking more individuals to join as patrollers.”

CPF patrollers meet every Thursday evening, and the public is welcome to join by prior arrangement to gain insight into the CPF operations.
