CPF Alberton stakeholder killed in Leondale while on duty

Alberton CPF to honour the late Shaun Teffo who died in an incident at Leondale Shopping Centre.

Shaun Teffo (46) known for his unwavering commitment to fighting crime, was fatally shot during a business robbery at Leondale Shopping Centre near Vosloorus.

Teffo responded to a call at the shopping centre, confronting the suspects involved in a robbery on June 14. He was shot in his attempt to prevent their escape.

His death sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting his significant role in ensuring local safety.

His dedication to protecting his community was unparalleled, as reflected in the heartfelt words of a CPF patroller who knew him well.

“He was a committed crime fighter, never took no for an answer, a real crime fighter loved by all and hated by the criminals because of his success, always willing to help no matter what time of day,” said Andrew Cornelius, CPF patroller.

“Teffo was not just a crime fighter but a beloved figure in his community. He owned A-Team security company and was always ready to lend a hand, day or night. His readiness to assist with a smile, coupled with his deep understanding of local crime dynamics, made him a trusted and respected figure.”

Teffo worked with the Alberton CPF and Alberton SAPS on crime-fighting initiatives as a stakeholder.

Robert Leighton, Alberton CPF patrol coordinator shared heartfelt words during Teffo’s memorial service in Katlehong.

“Today I saw the impact Shaun had on fighting crime in his area and beyond. Teffo was always willing to assist; always with a smile. No matter the time, one could phone him, and he would give you answers right away.”
According to Leighton, Teffo’s death serves as a call to honour those in the community who fight for the safety of their neighbours and fellow townspeople.

The Alberton CPF will host an annual award, the ‘Shaun Teffo Award’ which will be their way of honouring his memory and thanking those who contribute to the safety of the Alberton community.

“This award will serve as a reminder of Shaun’s bravery and dedication, inspiring others to follow in his footsteps,” said Leighton.
