Alberton parents convicted of abuse, rape, killing daughter (2)

The parents of a two-year-old deceased daughter will appear again in Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on August 1 for the murder of their daughter.

The Alberton North couple who stand accused of the murder of their two-year-old daughter appeared again before Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court for a judgment on June 20.

The married couple was found guilty of five counts of crimes, which include assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, two counts of child abuse, rape and murder.

The parents are accused of killing their daughter in May 2021, and the forensics report showed the child died from wounds allegedly sustained 12 days before her death on May 15.

During the court proceedings, the State prosecutor said that regarding the murder, the mother (accused one) and the father (accused two), abused their three children but it was a misfortune that one of them lost her life.

As the magistrate was about to deliver the sentencing, representatives for the offenders asked for the matter to be rescheduled because they wanted a pre-sentence report.

Both offenders were taken to prison because they were found guilty.

The matter was postponed to August 1 for pre-sentencing and transferred from Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court to the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court.
