Alberton mother and son murder case postponed to June

Prime suspect Fredie Stapelberg reappears in court for Randhart murders.

Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court saw the reappearance of Freddie Stapelberg (34), the prime suspect in the brutal murders of his girlfriend Nadine Terblanche and her nine-year-old son Ruandré, alongside his co-accused, Pardon Danhire (37), on May 24.

The tragic incident occurred at Terblanche’s Randhart home on November 27, 2023.

During a previous court appearance, Stapelberg’s bail was denied due to concerns regarding his psychological state, which was considered potentially dangerous to himself and others.

Stapelberg appeared emotionless in court next to Danhire, who had worked as a gardener for Stapelberg and Terblanche for several years. Danhire, a Zimbabwean national, was arrested on the day of the murders and has remained in custody since.

The case has been remanded to June 28 to allow for the completion of DNA reports and telephone records of both accused. Until then, both Stapelberg and Danhire will remain in custody.

Friends, family, and supporters of Nadine and Ruandré were present in court, visibly showing their solidarity by wearing shirts bearing images of the late mother and son.
