Successful arrests by CPS Security

The CPS Security team made several arrests in Alberton over the past few weeks.

In the last two weeks, these arrests were made:

• A man found with narcotics was arrested on April 25 on Second Avenue in Alberton North.

The suspect was arrested on April 25 for being in possession of narcotics.

• A gate motor thief was arrested on April 25 on Kiepersol Crescent, General Alberts Park. A property was searched together with the Alberton SAPS after following up on a case about wanted suspects.

“This suspect was spotted fleeing from the premises with a gate motor in hand. He was arrested on-site. It was established after further investigation that the gate motor was stolen from premises in the General Alberts Park area,” said Tyrone van der Merwe, the sales director at CPS Security.

• On April 25, a house breaker was arrested on Brink Street, Florentia.

“On our arrival, we received information that a suspect had broken into the neighbour’s property and stolen several items. We searched for the suspect and apprehended him. Stolen goods were recovered. The Alberton SAPS was contacted, and a case was opened.”

• A suspect was arrested on Jan Coetzee Street, Florentia, on April 24 for burglary after he broke into a business.

He was apprehended, and officers found narcotics and suspected stolen goods on him.

The suspect was transported to the Alberton Police Station.

• Nine men were arrested on Heidelberg Road on April 20 after they were seen digging up power cables.

Cable thieves were arrested on April 20.

“Our tactical team received a call from members of the Alberton SAPS requesting backup. We recovered stolen copper cable and tools,” said Van der Merwe.

Later, information came to light about who was buying the stolen cable and more arrests were made.

• During a routine patrol on April 18, a reaction officer noticed a suspicious male on Penzance Street. The man was stopped and questioned. It was found that he gave false information.

“We took the initiative to phone our local garden services in our area and find out if one of their weedeaters was stolen. The information was shared among several companies, and the rightful owner was found,” Van der Merwe explained.

The stolen equipment was taken to the Alberton SAPS, and a case was opened.
