CPS Security warns residents about rising criminal trend

The suspects forced the victims to withdraw large amount of cash at a nearby ATM.

Two men were recently kidnapped and dropped off in the Booysens area after their vehicle was forcefully stopped by four armed men while travelling on Voortrekker Road in South Crest.

According to sales director of CPS Security, Tyrone van der Merwe, the victims were forced into the vehicle and an undisclosed amount of money was taken.

“The victims returned to the scene approximately 45 minutes after the robbery had occurred,” he said.

According to the victim, the suspects wanted him to withdraw money from an ATM and to make EFT transfers into an unknown account.

“We urge residents to be extra cautious when travelling with large amounts of cash. Ensure low withdrawal limits and EFT transfers to be put in place as this is becoming a common trend.”

No suspects were arrested.
