How puzzle games can help you enrich your mind

It is very important to keep your mind active. One way an individual can keep their mind is through puzzle games/crosswords, these games can grow one's mind immensely.

No time for Big Puzzles? Try the Minis

In the busy world, we often don’t have enough time to keep ourselves entertained. Usually, people are put off by the idea of starting to watch a new TV series or read a three-book novel because of the stuffed everyday schedules – the same goes for playing a puzzle game, usually it takes a lot of time and concentration, which most people don’t have.

Mini puzzle games which can be played during your work or school commute seem like a great time passer and challenge for your brain.

The rise in popularity of games such as Wordle, Wardle and similar variations also gave mini puzzles a boost. It seems like most people seem to enjoy a short challenge which is not very hard to solve and doesn’t ‘eat’ much of their time. We have a few suggestions if you are looking to make your waiting-in-line time less boring.

NYT Mini

In the Mini Crossword version of the New York Times crossword puzzle. The most famous of all crossword puzzles which features a different difficulty level throughout the week.

The Mini is usually no more than 6 questions in each direction and short to solve in less than 15 minutes, which makes it perfect puzzle do play on your work break, commute, waiting in line or even a stroll in the park.

LAT Mini

LA TIMES Mini crossword is a relatively new puzzle which is a minified version of the LATimes Crossword puzzle, same as NYT’s it is a small puzzle and quite fun to solve. If the mini is too easy for you or you have more than 15 minutes to play you can always switch to the main puzzle and give your brain a bigger challenge.

NYT Connections

Connections is an adaptation of the British TV Show ‘Only Connect’. It is a fairly new game addition to the New York Times Games portfolio. The game play idea is very simple. It gives you sixteen unsorted words and you must organize them in four columns with four words each. The words, of course need to be connected in some way hence the name ‘Connections’.

Your task is to find the connection between them, which not always is an easy task because some connections could be cryptic and not so obvious at ‘first sight’.

LetterBoxed

It was created by  Sam Von Ehren. There are 3 letters on each side of the square and you have to connect the letters and form at least 3 letters long words.

In this intriguing mini game your task is to spell words by connecting letters on a square. Don’t be deceived though, even though it might seem simple it is one of the hardest puzzles on the list. Many people prefer it especially because it gives you a hard time figuring it out, some people quitting it, gives other players the motivation to crack it.

Sounds easy? Not so quick. The letters on the same side can’t be used repeatedly and the last letter of each word must be the starting letter of the next word you form. Your goal is to form as many word as you can using the least amount of letters possible.
