Be Fit Fitness Club’s Kyokushin Karate Federation performed well at tournament

The karatekas won the under 50kg category and placed second in the special fight category.

Be Fit Fitness Club’s International Kyokushin Karate Federation (IKKF) southern suburbs dojo branch recently participated in the second Karate Annual National Tournament at the Lenasia Civic Centre.

According to IKKF founding member sensei Thabo Seabi, they won the under 50kg category and placed second in the special fight category.

“Two young boys, Botlhale and Ettienne Geyser, made us proud,” said Seabi.

Seabi encouraged parents to visit them on 60 South Road, Regents Park, Lusito Gap, to see what they do.

“Through karate, we fight and teach proper life skills. We exist to serve the community, including vulnerable and marginalised children and families. We offer them scalable and affordable physical activity, sports, exercise, and recreation programmes.

“We strive to have a meaningful impact on the community by achieving good health and well-being, gender equality and empowering women and girls, and finally, promoting peaceful and inclusive societies for the Sustainable Development Goals, which are an urgent call to action by all countries in the global partnership,” said Seabi.

Seabi said Be Fit Fitness Club provided martial arts, sports, tai chi, aerobic classes, and nutritional advice.

“Our work is based on life skills and character development, such as self-defence, self-confidence, self-esteem, self-discipline, self-control, behaviour change strategies, nutrition and healthy lifestyle coaching.

“These programmes are delivered in our community and have the potential to significantly reduce youth from participating in drugs and substance abuse, most importantly, taking them away from back street paradise (crime) and prison.

“Ultimately, our programmes promote social cohesion by providing access and participation in quality physical activities,” said Seabi.
