Uwais Qarni Islamic Centre hosts Eid Fest Market day
The centre’s members initiated the market to raise funds to upkeep the centre and for the UQIC Development Centre, which accommodates 10 children aged three to six years old.
The Uwais Qarni Islamic Centre (UQIC) hosted an Eid Fest Market on the Easter weekend, encouraging young entrepreneurs and community businesses to come together to sell their homemade items and promote their businesses on April 8.
The members initiated the market to raise funds to upkeep the centre and for the UQIC Development Centre, which accommodates 10 children aged three to six.
The market was hosted by members Muhammad Mian and Nooreen Khan, teachers and UQIC members. The event united the vendors – young and old. The idea was to promote skills in the community, encourage children to build business skills, bring the community together and promote all the items before Eid.
The day was driven by well-known public figure Abdul Jack Manack, who marketed, hosted and promoted stalls via Instagram and other online platforms.
There was a supervised kiddies’ corner with arts and crafts, face painting and a jumping castle so the adults could shop peacefully. It was a huge success and one the centre intends to host yearly.
