CoE rates now include the COA inspection fee

City of Ekurhuleni now charge a fee to issue the Certificate of Acceptance to business owners. The fee is payable at Customer Care Centre.

The City of Ekurhuleni environmental health tariffs has been updated to include a provision for paying an inspection charge before a certificate of acceptability (COA) is issued.

A COA is a compliance certificate issued by the metro. According to Zweli Dlamini, taxes are specified on the tariffs, which the council has approved following its schedule of fees and tariffs.

“Such fees are payable at the city’s pay points upon the premises meeting the requirements for issuing a certificate of acceptability following an inspection by the city’s environmental health practitioners. Environmental health practitioners do not collect cash payments for the COAs or any form of compensation for the services rendered,” Zweli said.

Businesses may call 011 999 2970 during business hours to learn more about the COA procedures or to request that an environmental health practitioner come to their facility for an inspection.
