Calvary Sanctuary hosts Career Day

An Alberton North congregation, Calvary Sanctuary Church, recently paved a way for prospective students on their potential career paths.

Calvary Sanctuary Church connected youngsters in the community with various learning institutions through their Career Day held on September 3.

The empowering event was opened to members of the community interested in furthering their studies and who are not sure of what options to pursue.

The event accommodated learners from Grade Eight who needed help with subject choices. Those who have already completed school and have not yet started furthering their studies were also assisted.

Representatives from various institutions such as Ekurhuleni West College, AFDA, Wits University, Johannesburg Culinary and Pastry School and Boston College were present. Also present was Ekukhanyeni Community Development College.

According to the event organiser and youth leader, Matsepo Letsela, their faith is always in the youth and they hope to expand their event in the following year.

“We’ve seen several young people roaming around and when you speak to them they say they don’t have any opportunities. We wanted all of them to attend the event so that they may decide from an early age what they intend on doing. We wanted them to know that there are several areas that one may venture into,” she said.
