EMPD officer accused of Katlehong tavern shooting

Following the recent shooting that took place at Katlehong, the CoE is proud to announce that they have made an arrest to a suspect that they believe was involved in the shooting.

Clr Lethlogonolo Moseki has demanded justice be done in the wake of the arrest of a suspect who is reportedly connected to the shooting that occurred on July 8 at the Katlehong bar.

Zweli Dlamini, the spokesperson for the CoE, confirmed the accused person is a member of the EMPD.

Disciplinary procedures are being instituted against the individual.

“We applaud the police for the swift arrest of the suspected shooter in the Katlehong tavern shooting. It doesn’t matter if he is a member of the EMPD – if the individual is guilty, justice must be served.

The suspect will not receive any pity or special treatment from the city. We will be observing the developments of this case with a close eye,” Moseki said.

The suspect was arrested on Friday and is scheduled to appear in the Palmridge Magistrate’s Court today (July 25).
