City urges its residents to stop violence against its officials

City of Ekurhuleni condemns violent attacks on energy officials to smoothen the process of getting electrical power.

The City of Ekurhuleni strongly denounces the recent pattern of violently attacking its energy personnel who are responding to power outages.

These technicians responded to power supply interruptions brought on by Eskom’s load-shedding or power outages.

Furthermore, Eskom personnel were held prisoner at substations and looted of their work tools and personal possessions.

The city warns those responsible for these acts as well as the impacted areas that attacking technicians will delay the restoration of power.

Additionally, the city is now obligated to use the EMPD and security corporations to watch over city technicians and defend infrastructure.
