Suspected petrol thief arrested after chase

The suspect vehicle was fitted with false plates and a second set was found inside the vehicle.

CPS Security arrested a suspect after speeding off without paying for his fuel at a local petrol station on May 22.

Tyrone van der Merwe, sales director for CPS Security said, “Employees at the petrol station flagged down one of our response vehicles after an unknown male had sped out of the garage after stealing R1 500 in fuel.

“The CPS reaction vehicle gave chase. The driver of the vehicle lost control and crashed into a wall in the Brackendowns area.”

A case of theft was opened at Mondeor SAPS, as well as a case of malicious damage to property at Brackendowns SAPS.

The vehicle had false number plates and a second set was found inside the vehicle.
