Local expresses concern on mobile clinic resources

Mayberry Park resident expresses grievance on Brackenhurst mobile clinic’s resources.

The Ekurhuleni Brackenhurst mobile clinic that goes around Alberton has been such a great initiative thus far.

It relieves pressure from the clinic and allows me as a resident of Mayberry Park to take a walk and get my checks in-and-out, as well as jabs for baby clinic.

However, today I was rather disappointed in the service. I decided to go get my BP checked out as I was feeling a little light-headed only to be turned away by the nurses, saying they don’t have batteries for the BP machine. The blood pressure machine takes AA+ batteries if I am not mistaken, similar to a TV remote control. One nurse then explained they have been buying batteries on their own accord. If I have batteries from home I should bring them.

They would also appreciate.

These are hardworking nurses who love their jobs and do it with diligence all the time. But they are not given enough resources to do their job.

Is it maybe a stock count issues or budget constraints? City of Ekurhuleni, I know we can do better.

Speaking on behalf of the healthcare facility, a manager told the RECORD they have been experiencing budget constraints lately.

“The corporate division is aware of budget challenges because we compiled a report of all the resources that are not available. Presently, they are identifying the gaps and your concern will be attended to. I apologise for the inconvenience,” she said.
