Alleged Mandrax manufacturer misses court amid hospitalisation

Alleged Mandrax manufacturer’s case was moved to March 29 after the accused was reported ill.

Alleged Mandrax manufacturer Thulani Mtotoba, who was expected to reappear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on March 24, was said to be hospitalised.

Represented by his defence attorney, Mtotoba was reported ill and that he had been hospitalised at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital due to low blood pressure.

His matter, which had previously been postponed for a plea in the past week, was moved to March 29.

The accused, who faces charges of manufacturing and dealing in drugs, was arrested on what was believed to be a Mandrax manufacturing facility in his Brackendowns home in 2019.

During his postponement, magistrate Ashin Singh reiterated this matter had been on the roll for a long time now.
