JSPCA Bath and Brush Day a success

The next Bath and Brush Day will be on April 2 at the JSPCA offices.

Johannesburg SPCA (JSPCA) held its first Bath and Brush Day of the year on February 26 at its premises in Turffontein.

The day was a huge success with over 70 volunteers helping with everything from bathing and brushing pets to playing with the animals and taking them for walks.

Liana Marx, communications officer for the JSPCA, said: “We were concerned about the weather as we had a huge storm on Friday, but the sun was shining bright and it was a beautiful day. We had so many new volunteers that gave up their Saturday to come and spend time with and give back to the animals that don’t have a home. We had loads of food and biscuits donated on the day and every animal was well fed with treats.

“We’d like to thank Meat World Comaro Crossing for sponsoring the boerewors for the day and Diesel Electric Services in Ophirton that also come through on the day to spend time with all the animals. Thank you to Angeline Winchester and her colleagues from Harcourts for the wonderful donations and a special thank you to everyone else whose names we don’t know for making this a wonderful day. The animals just loved being pampered and made a fuss off. We are happy to say we had adoption applications as well.”

The day aimed to get more people to come to visit the kennels to help with animals getting their forever homes.
This event is special as it fills any animal lover’s heart with joy to see the animals that might have been abused or neglected running around and playing with people.
