Stay-well educational campaign empowers Ward 94 locals

Locals were educated in ways of protecting themselves and others amid the pandemic and were presented with skills development opportunities.

Scientology Volunteer Ministers partnered with Bambisa Family Society to host an educational campaign at Mayberry Park Shopping Centre on January 25.

The campaign was aimed at educating the Ward 94 community on how to protect themselves and others amid the pandemic.

Those who came through were taught ways of making sanitiser for home use.

Locals presented with skills development opportunities.

On the day, Scientology Volunteer Ministers offered practical techniques of safeguarding oneself against the Covid-19 virus.

This information was shared through a booklet, which was also given to business owners and consumers who showed up at the shopping centre.

Through Bambisa Family Society, spearheaded by Brian Radebe, locals were also introduced to platforms in entrepreneurship and employment opportunities for the jobless.

Mandy Pelser of Scientology Volunteer Ministers said: “For the last two years we have been fighting this unseen enemy, Covid-19. The only way we are going to move forward is if we follow the rules and health protocols set out. Our slogan is, ‘something can be done about it’.”

Radebe, chairperson of Bambisa Family Society and former Ward 94 committee member, said they are running a programme that is aimed at job creation.

“We have a programme which we started in 2008 that has helped over 200 people get employment. We have people redo their CV, prepare them for interviews and help them find jobs. This is done through the partnership with various organisations,” he said.

Brendon Naidoo, who works at the shopping centre, commended the group for an educational session.
