Katlehong artist scores three nominations at MEMAs

His dedication to his craft landed him an award for Best Brand at the Black Entertainment Awards in 2010, and now he looks to add more to his name.

Artist and record producer Bongani ‘Voxyzie Bone’ Dlamini (29) was nominated in three categories in the Matlosana Entertainment Music Awards (MEMAs).

The Katlehong-based artist is nominated for the Best Afro Pop category for his song Sound Africa featuring Ugandan artist Star Khid. His second nomination is in the house music category for Njalo featuring Madoda; the song was also nominated for Banger of the Year.

He said getting nominated increases his confidence in his music career.

“Being nominated means a lot to me. It shows that my art is being recognised,” said Voxyzie Bone.

Ugandan artist Star Khid is featured on Sound Africa by Voxyzie Bone.

“This means I should continue with my career as a musician and keep releasing music for people and find new fans. The nomination brought light into my career. It means whatever path I am on is the right one,” he added.

Voxyzie Bone said he is inviting his fans and local residents to support him to bring the awards to Katlehong.

He started music production in 2008, experimenting with house and hip-hop music with friends. He later established a record label called Namanje Dawg Entertainment.

His dedication to his craft landed him an award for Best Brand at the Black Entertainment Awards in 2010, and now he looks to add more to his name.

Voxyzie Bone won the award for Best Brand at the Black Entertainment Awards in 2010.

“I hope to get more votes and win the Best Afro Pop and Banger of the Year Award. I feel like we worked hard on both songs. I featured talented artists and made sure the songs sound great before releasing them,” said Voxyzie Bone.
