Alberton McDonald’s fund-raiser a success

Alberton McDonald's recently hosted a birthday bash fund-raiser for Roney Stephens (2), who was born with club feet.

Her parents, with Tannie A and Thabile Chomie Dube from Alberton McDonald’s, are trying to raise funds for her so she can see a private doctor who can help her with her birth defect.

Roney turned two on October 1.

Rodney Stephens with his wife Cindy, daughter Roney, and son Jayden.

Ten percent of all the sales McDonald’s made on October 2 from 12:00 to 16:00 went towards Roney.

According to Thabile, McDonald’s raised R1 000 and it was paid into The Living Care Circle’s NPC account.

“Thank you to Thabile and everyone who showed their support. Also a big thank you to Sonia Augusto for Roney’s birthday cake,” said Cindy Stephens.

A meeting will soon be held with the NPC and the parents to discuss the way forward regarding available funds.

Club foot, also called talipes, is where a baby is born with a foot or feet that turn in and under. Early treatment should correct it. In club foot, one foot or both feet point down and inwards with the sole facing backwards.

It is her parents biggest wish to help her to live a normal live and to be able to walk.
