Bravely hitting the road to support the Daredevil Run

There was a whole lot of hooting and cheering going down in the streets of Meyerton on October 15 when many eight brave men took on the Daredevil Run.

‘Yes! Cheer us on as we are about to start the race against cancer.’

Caxton Joburg South in conjunction with Hollard put the challenge out there for men to take part in the annual run where men take to the street in purple Speedos to create awareness about testicle cancer.

With the race almost at an end it was still all smiles.

And let’s just say, it was difficult to find men with enough courage enough to rise to the occasion.

Making their way through the main street of Meyerton while being cheered on by motorists and pedestrians alike.

Then the challenge was put forward to a few avid Parkrun runners with close connections to Meyerton Athletic Club (MAC) and the race was one.

At the end of their run.

As they took to the streets the first glances to the purple Speedos coming down the street were ones of ‘oh my, what do we have here?’

Gearing up for the 5km Daredevil Run through the streets of Meyerton.

That did not last very long and motorists and pedestrians soon caught on and send the men on their merry way hooting along their route and spurring them on from the sidewalk.

‘If we don’t do it, who will do it?’

And true to the MAC spirit, a couple of women joined in to cheer the men on as their race ‘against testicle cancer’ began and a couple of MAC members awaited them to clap them home when they finished their run.

A lot braver and more assertive at the end of the race because it can be done if you are brave enough to take to the streets in your purple Speedo creating awareness about testicle cancer.

Caxton Joburg South would like to take this opportunity, not only to thank Hollard for opportunity to put the word out there, but also to the runners of MAC who took on the challenge.

‘We did it with the support of motorists, pedestrians and MAC members.”
It is much more than being man enough – it is also about being brave enough to run in your purple Speedo to create awareness about testicle cancer.
