The Miss Charity Award went to Tenisha Gounder, who raised over R3 000 as part of her fund-raiser. She was also crowned Miss Face of Ace Models JHB 2021.

She told the CHRONICLE raising the funds was difficult, especially during a time where the economy is under strain due to the pandemic.

“I’m excited and overwhelmed by the crowning. It was difficult having to collect those funds because most people are affected by the pandemic. The fund-raiser was made possible through my school, Uitsig High School. I had to organise a raffle to collect these funds,” said Gounder.

Richardson thanked the group and said she was delighted with their generous donation.

“Cansa has been around for many years. We have nine care homes countrywide, which are homes away from home. All the money raised will go to our care homes and back to our communities to detect cancer early,” she said.

The day was made possible by sponsors Del Forno Lemon Tree, Sheldon Reddair Photography, Face It Make Up and Beauty Studio and Ace Models JHB South.
