Johannesburg Flying Squad weekend successes

Police recovered five vehicles and two firearms with ammunition.

Johannesburg Flying Squad communications officer Raymond Sambo said from September 24 until September 27 its members arrested 11 suspects for different crimes in different areas in Johannesburg, recovered five vehicles and two firearms with ammunition.

ā€œAmong the 11 suspects arrested, two were for possession of unlicensed firearms and four for Contravention of the Disaster Management Act 2020, one for murder and four for possession of drugs,ā€ said Sambo.

The two firearms recovered, a 9mm Norinco and 9mm CZ 75 pistol with ammunition, were booked in.

ā€œAmong the vehicles recovered were a silver Audi A3 and a white Toyota Corolla that was robbed and a white Ford Ranger, a white Isuzu and a grey VW Polo that were recovered stolen.

ā€œInvestigation continues in all cases. Working together with the community led to these recoveries. SAPS appreciates the public for their contribution. It should also be noted that any information regarding the vehicles, people may contact the relevant detective quoting the relevant case number,ā€ Sambo said.

The 11 suspects will appear in different magistrate’s courts to face their charges.
