City of Joburg opening of swimming pool for season 2021

Swimming pools will be open under lockdown level three regulations, meaning that there will reduced numbers allowed at all facilities.

The MMC for Community Development Margaret Arnolds announced that 42 of the City of Joburg’s swimming pools will be opening on October 1.

Major upgrades to 10 swimming pools were commissioned by the City, meaning that these pools will only be ready for opening in the next season. Due to vandalism, additional three pools will remain closed but are receiving attention.

Communities are encouraged to celebrate summer responsibly while investing in their health by being physically active.

Bathers will make use of City swimming pools under the prescribed lockdown level 3 regulations, meaning that there will be reduced numbers allowed at all facilities.

On October 1 between 11:00 and 13:00, some swimming pools including the one in Forest Hill will offer an array of water activities like learning to swim, water aerobics, water safety and water volleyball to name a few – all in the spirit of the summer season.

Among the 42 swimming pools due for opening on October 1, these are from the South:

Pioneer Park (heated) on the corner of Rosettenville Road and 11th Street in Pioneer Park, Southern Suburb at 1 Berg Street in Oakdene, Forest Hill in John Stephenson Road, Golf Street between Leonard Ext and Rifle Range Road in Forest Hill, Crown Gardens, corner of Ulster Crescent and Mourne Avenue in Crown Gardens and Moffat, corner Southern Klipriviersberg and Nephin roads in Moffat Park.
