Concerns about Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve

The central water stream is polluted with sewage.

It was nice to read “Enjoying a Sunset hike” of Kilpriversberg Reserve by Andy Hasenkoopf published in the August 11 edition of Comaro Chronicle.

But I have concerns too.

The first is that the central water stream is polluted with sewage as I pointed out in my previous email.

The second is the Sunbird trail (marked red on the map). Its signboard has been taken off and the initial trail from Mondeor gate is completely erased. I was familiar with that trail so I located it and followed up to the bend where it was interrupted.

I could not figure out the reason. Is it a decision of the park board authority or something else?

Please enquire from the Kilpriversberg Nature Reserve office.

Comment from Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve’s committee:

The more people who phone or email and get a reference number, the stronger the case becomes. You can use Twitter @JoburgParksZoo, contact queries and complaints on 011 375 5555 or Google JCPZ customer care.

We have lodged a lot of complaints and the source seems to be from Rand Water and apparently, they are attending to this.

Regarding the Sunbird trail, Andy will look into this and keep us posted. Thank you for the alert.

• Rand Water media relations manager, Justice Mohale said, “The matter is being investigated and Rand Water will comment once the investigation is completed.”
