Cemetery operations remain the same under lockdown level three

The City of Ekurhuleni has operational measures in place to curb the spread of Covid-19 during burials.

The measures are based on Covid-19 prevention protocols of regular sanitisation or hand-washing, maintaining social distancing and wearing of masks.

Restrictions on access to the City’s cemeteries remain unchanged under adjusted alert level three.

This has not been affected by the announcement by President Cyril Ramaphosa on July 25 to move the country to an adjusted alert level three.

These are the measures in place:

• Burials will take place seven days a week including Sundays and public holidays.

• The maximum number of people allowed per funeral is 50.

• The maximum number of burials per day per cemetery is 14.
