#SAunrest: Death toll rises to 212, N2 & N3 open

Despite the increase in deaths, government says the situation has been “fully stabilised” and announced that President Cyril Ramaphosa would address the nation tonight (July 16).

Acting Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni addressed the media this afternoon to give an update on the unrest that took hold of some parts of the country.  

Nsthavheni confirmed that major economic routes are open, this includes the N2 and N3 for transportation of key food stuffs, medical supplies and fuel and this, she said, would abate shortages.

Further to this, the acting minister also confirmed the following:

The acting minister also confirmed police are investigating the possible instigators of the unrest but said no further comment would be given on the matter as it would jeopardise investigations.
