Speaking for SAPS, Capt Mega Ndobe said several liquor outlets were also visited where some owners were issued with fines.

“On the R554, police seized a white Toyota Corolla, which was reported stolen in Vanderbijlpark. The driver told the officers that he bought the vehicle from a police detective who was also arrested at the roadblock. The vehicle was among two other vehicles, which were impounded for being tempered with,” he said.

As the day proceeded, he said they received a breakthrough of a drug lab at Eldorado Park in Olifantsvlei.

“Crime intelligence-driven information led the police to the farm and suspects allegedly saw the police from the distance. Upon arrival, suspects were found mixing different substances to manufacture drugs, estimated to cost more than a million,” said Ndobe.

Mthombeni and Ekurhuleni district commissioner Maj Gen Anna Mateisi were commended for a job well done.
