Meat World gives back to community

Meat World is proud to announce its collaboration with a local NPC to uplift and better the circumstances of marginalised children in South African communities.

Meat World has collaborated with the Ekukhanyeni Relief Project and donated 240kg of chicken benefitting 20 ECD centres. The first donation was delivered on March 25 and brought much-needed relief to over a thousand children in need.

Ekukhanyeni is a charity organisation that focuses on community upliftment in poverty-stricken informal settlements surrounding Johannesburg.

The NPC is 15 years old and comprises 20 ECD centres with just over a thousand children in attendance. Based in the impoverished peri-urban area of Lawley in the South of Johannesburg, Ekukhanyeni focuses on its three core strategic pillars; educate, employ and feed.

These donations will continue monthly with each ECD centre receiving 12kg of chicken.

Financial constraints rarely allow Ekukhanyeni’s ECD operators to provide meat protein to children and other sources of protein, such as beans and fortified cereal, are typically provided in their daily meals.

“We are thrilled that our children will now have regular access to quality protein to contribute towards improved nutrition for our children thanks to Meat World’s outreach and support,” said ECD programme head, Debbie Benson-Armer.

Meat World owner, Angelino Pereira, said it is a privilege to support local children’s causes and that everyone must do their part to uplift and empower the children of South Africa.
