With efforts to support local businesses, The Gatherings Community Church collaborated with Rietvlei Zoo Farm to host a Christmas market on December 5.

The widely attended event offered community members a chance to purchase items ranging from delicious Christmas treats to accessories, and the stalls even included a mobile salon.

The church also took an opportunity to uplift community members with words of encouragement and offered them a mini-prayer session.

Yorick Broom, a pastor at the church, told the RECORD the event was a huge success and that it was mainly hosted to support local businesses.

“We also focused on praying for people for what we refer to as ‘soul art’. We gave people something to hold on to in a time that is so hopeless. The event aimed to bring people together while also supporting local businesses,” he said.

He also said they hoped to get people into the spirit of Christmas.
