Man (30) killed on N12 East freeway

A man believed to be around 30 years old has been killed while allegedly trying to cross the N12 freeway just before the Reading Interchange near New Redruth, north of Alberton, on December 7.

ER24 paramedics responded to the scene at 5.10 pm and found the man lying face down in the right-hand lane of the road, having suffered fatal injuries.

“He had been knocked down by a light motor vehicle. He, unfortunately, showed no signs of life and was declared dead on arrival,” said Ross Campbell, a multimedia producer at ER24.

EMPD officers arrived shortly after for investigations and to take over the scene of the incident.
