Megan Holmes (33), Ms Deaf South Africa 2020 finalist, has partnered with the Deaf Volunteers team to assist in providing nutritious meals to deaf elderly people.

Megan is one of the finalists in Ms, Mr, and Mrs. Deaf South Africa (MDSA), an independent deaf-empowerment organisation founded in 1995.

The mother of one, who has been actively involved in charity work, has committed to assisting vulnerable deaf seniors in parts of Johannesburg South.

“We would like our seniors to stay healthy and enjoy their golden years. We are motivating them to live healthily by providing nutritious meals for them. I feel it’s my duty to uplift the deaf community and support them since many live below the bread line,” she said.

She told the RECORD they are mostly targeting the elderly residing in Soweto and surrounding areas.

Their list of needs include maize meal, rice, canned food, potatoes, onions, butternut, cooking oil, cereal, milk powder, coffee, and tea. They are also appealing for monetary donations of R100 in order to purchase food.

Should you wish to donate, contact Megan via WhatsApp on 066 465 8014.
