Blue lights hijacking in Meyersdal

Brackendowns SAPS has opened a case following a man being hijacked by suspects posing as police.

A man was hijacked in the Meyersdal area on November 27 and according to reports, a car with blue lights pulled him over.

After being pulled over, it was reported he was approached by a man in what seemed to be a police uniform.
The man asked the victim for his licence and then reportedly pulled a firearm on him.

According to the victim, other suspects jumped out of the vehicle and into his vehicle and drove with him to Thokoza, where he was robbed of his vehicle and belongings.

Brackendowns SAPS has confirmed that a case has been opened at the station and that it is being investigated.

Take note:

According to WO Gerhard Cornelius, the spokesperson for Brackendowns SAPS, if you feel uncomfortable when you see blue lights behind you, you may drive to your nearest police station.

He explained that marked police vehicles always have a registration number ending in a “B”.

All marked vehicles will feature the call sign number and station or unit it is assigned to.
