Suspect shot dead, victim wounded in alleged attempted armed robbery in Brackendowns

A hand firearm and extra magazine was retrieved on scene.

This morning, October 6, Reaction and Tactical units from Fox Security and CPS Security responded to reports of shots fired on Pendoring Street in Brackendowns.

“Upon arrival reaction units found the client in the driveway shot in the leg and hand with one of the suspects lying next to him, said Elowayne Gouws, Fox Security operations manager.

According to Warrant Officer Gerhard Cornelius, from Brackendowns SAPS, the complainant was busy taking out his bin in the driveway when attacked by unknown males. A fight ensued and both parties fired numerous shots. The complainant was shot in the leg and hand. One suspect was fatally wounded.

“Suspects fled in a White Polo with no plates towards Swartkoppies Road,” said Tyrone van der Merwe, CPS Security sales manager.

The patient was treated and transported to a nearby hospital by National Paramedical Services.
