Women of Stature aims to empower women

"It is my vision that Woman of Stature channels this message and provides a voice for the de-voiced and voiceless.”

Woman of Stature (WOS) was founded by businesswoman Charlotte du Plessis in 2013 as a proudly South African organisation committed to the empowerment of women.

It has joined forces with the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) as strategist partners and has evolved and transitioned over the years into a training, networking and development organisation.

WOS aims to support women in the development of their skills and how to apply them in business by empowering women through further education, training and skills development.

At their core, the organisation helps to unify and harness the power of women throughout South Africa.

“Women are still under-represented in the work force, marginalised socially and domestically abused. It is my vision that WOS channels this message and provides a voice for the de-voiced and voiceless,” said du Plessis.

Shereen Hunter from the South, who is the managing director of WOS Network, worked with du Plessis to develop the WOS brand.  Over the last three years she has watched it grow into one of the leading business networking brands in South Africa.

A date for the first International Woman of Stature event has already been confirmed in 2021, with a strategic partner in the Middle East.

Hunter is also the CEO and founder of The Hunter Group, a turnkey brand management agency based in Johannesburg South. She believes education and knowledge are the most valuable tools an individual can have to find sustainable success and that through collaboration and networking women can achieve their true potential.

By signing a memorandum of understanding to work together, WOS and the JCCI cannot only share information about development opportunities in Africa.

This will grow their respective influences globally into the short-term future.  Bernadette Zeiler, internal trade manager overseeing this strategic partnership into Africa, made the following comment about the JCCI WOS partnership.

“It is very important for businesses to adopt an export strategy to expand, create jobs and boost the economy. JCCI offers such a platform where businesses can engage with potential partners and gain access to international markets.

“JCCI has also formed strategic partnerships with organisations such as WOS, where businesses will be allowed to access partnerships or joint ventures in the international arena,” said Zeiler.
