Alberton suspect found with illegal firearms and ammunition

The suspect will soon appear at the Palm Ridge Magistrates court.

A case has been opened after Alberton SAPS nabbed a male suspect who was found to be in possession of stolen firearms and ammunition on September 17.

This is after the men in blue ensued a search and found the firearms and ammunition hidden under the suspect’s mattress.

Capt Manare Ramotshela, Alberton SAPS spokesperson, said: “A body search was conducted and nothing was found but the suspect was on top of a mattress and looked suspicious. The members continued with the search, as they went through they recovered firearms and ammunition under the mattress.”

The suspect was then taken in, the stolen firearms and ammunition have also been booked in at the station.

The suspect will soon appear at the Palm Ridge Magistrates court. Ramotshela also thanked all officers involved in making the arrest.

“The management under the command of Colonel Doctor Sibuyi has welcomed the success of the arrest with two hands. Criminals are once again advised that police are always there to arrest them,” he said.
