Brave men stop veld fire next to the Alberton SPCA

All the animals are safe and in good condition thanks to the quick thinking and selflessness of these men.

A veld fire broke out on the grounds situated next to the Alberton SPCA at about 3am on August 13.

The fire started raging out of control and had it not been for Joseph Mahlangu (SPCA field officer) and CPS Security who braved the blazes and attempted to ease the fire, the extent of damages would have been far worse.

“We are happy to report that all our animals are safe and in good condition thanks to the quick thinking and selflessness of these men.

“We, unfortunately, have lost our electrical fencing to this unforeseen tragedy. We are appealing to the community, if they are willing and able, to donate monetarily toward a new electrical fence,” said acting SPCA manager, Wrolien Rabie.

“Alberton SPCA would also like to thank the community for all the calls of concern which came flooding through this morning. We are truly grateful.”

The veld fire which broke out next to the SPCA was brought under control just in time.
