Alberton SPCA honour two locals with lifetime membership awards

Two people who are very special to the Alberton SPCA were honoured with Lifetime Membership Awards during the SPCA's AGM on July 11.

Christine Cornall, the treasurer and currently the longest standing member of the committee, introduced Dr Caryn Rademeyer, the Alberton SPCA’s on-call vet.

Cornall said that over the past 10 years, there has never been a hesitation from Dr Rademeyer to help, many a time in the middle of the night, and that the SPCA is truly grateful for what she does for the animals in their care.

Dr Rademeyer thanked the committee for the award and said the Alberton SPCA staff pull together like family and it is most definitely her happy place.

Peter Manelis from Nevada Construction received a Lifetime Membership award for his ongoing contribution to the Alberton SPCA over many, many years.

Cornall recalled how five years ago, after a distemper outbreak, Manelis had subsidised the quarantine kennels and the new and improved drainage system.

Since then, there have been numerous projects that he has been involved in and always with a smile on his face.
Manelis thanked the committee for the award and commended all the people at the Alberton SPCA.

He added that he had help from his electrician colleagues, as well as co-workers and that it is always a pleasure to help.
