Brackendowns SAPS deny need for PPE

Brackendowns SAPS dispel misinformation by the RECORD claiming inadequate provision of PPE to members.

The SAPS in Brackendowns have noted with concern, an article published in the online Alberton Record on 26 July 2020, implying that the members at Brackendowns SAPS are without the necessary PPE, a critical requirement for the protection of members against the COVID-19.

Management of the SAPS at Brackendowns hereby dispels the article as not only misleading but malicious as it portrays the management of the SAPS as uncaring in relation to the needs of the members during this global pandemic.

“It is a basic rule for reporters to offer the organisation, in this case, Brackendowns SAPS, the right of reply in the event that certain allegations are made against the organisation. In this instance, no comment or response was solicited from the SAPS and it is on this basis that the publishing of this article is perceived as malicious with the intention to portray the organisation in a negative light,” said Sgt Lindile Moloi, a police spokesperson at the Brackendowns Police Station.

“Management of the SAPS Brackendowns wishes to assure the communities served by the station, that there are measures and protocols in place to ensure that members are protected against the coronavirus; and that where a positive case is confirmed, service delivery to the public is not interrupted as we have done in the past week,” added Moloi.

The RECORD would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused. The post on our Facebook page came as a result of misinformation from one of the WhatsApp Community groups given to the RECORD.
