Earth angel Zanelle Huyzers (12) is trying to spread the message of hope through Alberton during these uncertain times.
Zanelle, a learner from Laerskool President Steyn, is always thinking of ways to support the community and those in need, especially the elderly and children.
Spreading hope
“I want to change the lives of others, even if it is with the smallest donation,” she said.
On June 26, she went to Silwerkroon flats for the elderly to hand out bags of hope.
“A bag of hope is a bag filled with rice, soup mix, lentils, a stock cube, instant soup powder, split peas and a lot of love. This bag can feed a family of four people. It is very tasty and also very healthy.”
Zanelle also donated a bag full of small change to support National Paramedical Services’s (NPS) fund-raiser for a new ambulance.
“So far, I have collected over R200 of coins for them by just searching through my mother’s and grandmother’s houses,” she said.
Rika Kleynhans, Zanelle’s mother, said she is very proud of her.
“Zanelle you make us proud. You have a heart of gold and always think about others. I’m am truly blessed to have you as my daughter.”
How you can help
Zanelle is looking for donations of either rice, soup mix, lentils, stock cube, instant soup powder or small change.
“With more donations, I can help feed more people, and every cent will put NPS a step closer to buying a new ambulance.”
