As a cornerstone of healthcare, the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) take the health of citizens very seriously.
SANBS said during this challenging time, all are called upon to unite in the drive to keep our nation healthy.
Precautionary deferral measures have also been put in place to ensure continued safety of blood and blood products.
The following people are affected:
• People who have travelled to affected countries outside of South Africa will be deferred for 21 days.
• People with confirmed cases of Covid-19 infection will be deferred for 28 days from the date of complete clearance of symptoms.
• People who have been in close contact with confirmed or suspected Coronavirus cases will be deferred for 21 days from the last date of contact.
