Truck claims life of an 11-year-old pedestrian in Eden Park

The incident occurred near Greenfields taxi rank in Eden Park at around 12 noon.

The rescue team from Palm Ridge fire station promptly responded to the scene after members of the community reported the incident.

According to William Ntladi, media liaison district manager for DEMS, upon arrival on the scene, the dead body was found next to the road.

“Prehospital medical treatment was initiated and unfortunately with no positive response, she was declared deceased. The two occupants of the truck, the driver and assistant escaped with no injuries,” said Ntladi.

He said the scene was then handed over to members of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department for further investigation.
