Five injured in accident on R59

The accident too place approximately 20km outside of Alberton.

Five people were left injured this morning, two of them children, when three light motor vehicles collided on the R59, approximately 20km outside of Alberton.

According to the ER24 communications officer, Russel Meiring, ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find three light motor vehicles on the side of the road.

Two adults and two boys were found walking around on the scene while another adult was found lying trapped inside the one vehicle.

Rescue Services had to use specialised equipment to free the patient from the vehicle. Once freed, medics assessed the patients and found that all five had sustained minor to moderate injuries. Fortunately, no serious injuries or fatalities were found.

The patients were treated and thereafter transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment. The details surrounding the incident are not yet known, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
