Lodging a complaint against EMPD

Complaints procedure for EMPD.

Kobeli Mokheseng, EMPD acting chief superintendent and media spokesperson, wants to inform Albertonians about kow they can lodge a complaint against EMPD or the metro police officers’ conduct.

According to him, there is an anti-corruption hotline in the City of Ekurhuleni, which is 0800 102201 or 112/10111 on cellphones and then request to speak with the SAPS Anti-Corruption Unit.

“During weekdays between 8am and 3.30pm, a plaintiff can visit their nearest EMPD precinct after experiencing an ordeal and request to speak to a precinct commander or a deputy/a senior officer in charge (available at that time),” Kobeli said.

The other option is to visit their head office, situated in Kempton Park at the corner of Long Street and Margaret Avenue (during weekdays) and request the internal affairs/integrity and standards unit for assistance.

“The complainant should be prepared to give/write a statement indicating what actually transpired. The Internal Affairs Team will investigate the matter, including maintain the statement from the officer/s accused of wrongdoing. The date will be set for a hearing and the presiding officer will give a verdict, considering the active and passive corruption.”

The Alberton office, located at 4 Swartkoppies Road, consists of a director, a deputy director, a personal assistant, statistics office, administration office and a registered nurse/clinician/sister.
