New executive head at Waterstone College

Dr Edwards is, above all, a family man.

CURRO Holdings, South Africa’s largest JSE-listed independent school operator, has recently appointed education guru Dr Graeme Edwards as executive head of Waterstone College.

As executive head, Edwards looks forward to his tenure of leading, guiding and supporting the learners, staff and families at the school.

An experienced leader in the field of education, Edwards brings with him 30 years’ experience in education, 21 of which have been spent as the head of various independent schools.

Having gained experience across pre-primary, primary and secondary education, Edwards started his career as a classroom teacher in 1989.

Over the years, he held the positions of head of department: educational guidance, deputy head, head of school, among others.

He was also appointed as the founding executive head of a Christian school based in the Umlazi township in Durban.

As a lifelong learner, Edwards holds four degrees, a higher diploma in education and a certificate in business studies.

He completed a doctorate in education in 2017, and his study explored educational leadership in South Africa’s disadvantaged rural communities.

The study has since produced six papers at international conferences, four published journal articles, and one book.

He is also a guest lecturer in the online master’s course in the Faculty of Education at the University of Johannesburg.

Edwards is, above all, a family man.

He has been married to Terry for 29 years and they have two sons.

In his spare time he enjoys reading, walking and cycling.

An enthusiastic individual driven by a passion for education, Waterstone College can look forward to positive growth under his leadership.
