Charmain Peense, Ward 94’s Environmental Health and Safety committee member invites the community to join her and many others on their death bend awareness campaign.

This follows complaints raised about the curve on JG Strijdom Road in Mayberry Park, which is reported to being a cause for many accidents on that road.

Peense has taken it upon herself to have a petition signed which will be submitted to the City Council before the end of January. The petition now stands at 340 signatures.

The petition has been drafted to lower the number of accidents on Mayberry Road caused by the curve and the absence of warning signs.

During the awareness campaign, those present on the day will go door-to-door, signing people up on the ‘death bend’ petition.

They will meet on the corner of JG Strijdom Road and Redwood Street on January 11 at 8.30am, where they will walk around the Mayberry Park neighbourhood.

Those who will come through on the day are advised to wear comfortably and to stay hydrated.
